Salt Scrub

Salt Scrub

There are two kinds of people in the world...The people that use salt scrubs regularly and the people that don't.

Most of the people that do not use salt scrubs either do not know about its benefits or reserve this process for very expensive spas that they very rarely go to. Salt scrubs can be by yourself or a loved one in the comfort of your own home.

5 BENEFITS OF SALT SCRUB: You may not know.

1. Skin Glow

One of the biggest benefits to salt scrubs, particularly the salt scrub, is the glow that your skin is left with. There are different grades of salt, and sea salt is the best option for a salt glow.

2. Exfoliating

It might seem like an obvious benefit to mention, but body scrubs are a great way to exfoliate dead skin cells. This paves the way for fresh new cells to regenerate and leaves you looking and feeling fabulous.

3. Increasing Flow

When you get a salt scrub or give one to yourself, you are encouraging the natural flow of circulation and bodily fluids within.

4. Improve Cellulite and Aging

There are some claims that certain types of body scrubs can actually improve the look of aging and dimpled skin from cellulite. There is no miracle cure, but it certainly won’t hurt to try a salt scrub that is enhanced with coffee. Coffee grounds are the best option for use on cellulite-prone areas of the body. These types of salt scrubs are great if you love the smell of coffee, too. I also have coffee essential oil.

5. Relaxation

Treating yourself with a salt scrub, especially when combined with a massage, is just plain relaxing. Having a salt scrub done by a professional or a loved one allows you to incur the benefit without the mess or stress. Plus, when you have a choice of essential oils to add to your salt scrub, the effects are even more potent.  For example, Lavender is a great choice because of its known relaxing qualities.

There may be other scents that you find relaxing, so be sure to let me know which essential oils you want to be incorporated.

Himalayan pink salt is known for its ability to absorb dirt and toxins from the skin, balance pH levels, moisturize dry skin, and reduce inflammation. With these properties, it's no surprise why many people swear by Himalayan salt for their skincare routine!

Does it expire?

This Homemade salt scrub will last for up to 2 years. Pink Himalayan salt technically never expires, and sunflower oil is good for 2 to 3 years. Some essential oils will fade after a while, but you can always top them up with new oils to replenish the scent.

Yes, sunflower oil can go bad if it is not stored correctly. This salt scrub should be stored in a cool, dark place in an airtight container. If this is not done, then the oils can become rancid, producing an off-flavor and smell.

Sunflower Oil: Skin Benefits

The vitamin E in sunflower oil has antioxidants that help with premature aging and wrinkles, keeping your skin looking young and fresh. Sunflower oil also contains linoleic acid, which helps your skin retain moisture so it becomes less dry. Reinforcing this natural moisture barrier is especially helpful for those with eczema or otherwise dry skin. In addition, linoleic acid helps to protect the face from bacteria and germs. Along with keeping your skin moisturized and wrinkle-free, the sunflower oil benefits for skin include:

  • It leaves pores unclogged: Sunflower oil is highly absorbent and non-comedogenic. This means it will not clog your pores, and it is well-suited for various skin types — including acne-prone, dry, normal, and oily.
  • It offers sun protection: Antioxidants like vitamin E help protect your skin from wrinkles and negative effects from sun exposure.
  • It helps heal wounds: Sunflower oil has been shown to help aid wounds in healing faster, though more research is needed to explore this effect.
  • known to even out the skin tone by offering a skin-brightening quality to the complexion. Furthermore, it is also reputed to decrease sensitivity to sunlight and to facilitate the lightening of an unwanted tan.
  •

Ingredient Category: Oil/emollient.

Main Benefits: Sunflower oil hydrates and repairs the skin barrier, working to smooth and soothe skin and protect it from environmental stressors.

Daily Use?

It's best not to use a salt scrub on your skin every day. Over-exfoliating your skin can leave it dry, sensitive, and irritated. It's generally safe to exfoliate your skin two to three times a week. If your skin is dry and sensitive, you may want to exfoliate only once a week. So this 8 oz, will last you roughly 6 months.

  • If you are allergic to sunflower

This Salt Scrub may cause itchy skin, dry mouth and severe skin effects. In addition, excess consumption may cause increased blood sugar levels. If you have diabetes, sunflower oil can be bad for you as it can cause glucose spikes, which can have adverse effects.
